Nick Parker – The Writer, pdf of presentation
Book now for a 90 minute masterclass on words and images that will really get you thinking about how you communicate with…well just about everyone.
Every organisation uses words. Which is why it’s amazing that most business writing is so boring. Every boring piece of writing is a missed opportunity: an opportunity to persuade, to cajole, to touch, to surprise. But fret not. We have enlisted Nick Parker from The Writer to rescue you from the tyranny of linguistic mediocrity.
Brand image is not just about the logo – but it is that magic piece of creative design that can in one fell ‘swoosh’ communicate everything your brand stands for. Creating the right brand name, logo and brand statement isn’t easy; Alex Luff, Managing Director and Mark Ellerington, Creative Director of Corporate Edge will show you how to apply the art and science of marketing to the process. They will also explore how images are used and shared and the idea of using images found on social networking sites (taken by other random people) as images for brands.
This event is accredited for 1.5 hours CPD. Oxford Circus is your nearest tube station.

Nick is Creative Director at The Writer. He has helped all sorts of organisations make their words work harder: from cool brands like MTV, to global firms like PwC and regulatory bodies like Ofgem. He writes regularly about business language in the national press, speaks at conferences and events, and occasionally pops up on Simon Mayo’s Radio 2 show. Occasionally he puts in an actual day’s work running writing workshops for his clients.
Before joining The Writer he spent ten years writing and editing magazines, including a long stint as deputy editor of The Oldie. His book of short fiction (The Exploding Boy and other tiny tales, 2011) was hailed by the Guardian as ‘astonishing… proof that the short story remains a public good’, which was nice of them.
In a previous life, he was a cartoonist for Viz.
Alex is Managing Director at Corporate Edge whose mission is to put people at the heart of business communications. This means telling open, honest, engaging, human stories that help connect you to the people that matter most. We live in a digital age, and Alex’s role as Managing Director is to help clients understand what this means to their brand, business and people. Exploring the convergence of creativity, innovation and technology is a key part of his working life. The Corporate Edge ‘brandigital’ approach brings together expertise across brand and digital to create communication strategies and platforms that develop long term commercial and operational benefits for each organisation.
Mark is the Creative Director at Corporate Edge. He has over fifteen years’ experience in the design and branding industry.
