If Valentine’s Day was a bit of a washout, and you decided against using the 29th February as an excuse to propose (or didn’t receive any proposals!), don’t fear! Media Trust is here to help you find your perfect match instead!
As part of Media Trust’s work matching media, marketing and communications professionals as volunteers with charities, they run regular Speedmatching events throughout the year and they’d love you to go along and be part of them.
Media Trust’s Media Matching service works quite a lot like a dating service – they have an online system where charities upload their requests for help with marketing and comms issues and professionals can view those requests and match with them online.
To make it even more like a dating service, they also run Speedmatching events. These work similar to speed dating – only with media and comms professionals and charities. You get 5 minutes each with 10 different charities, offer on the spot advice and tips wherever you can, and then if you want to continue working with them in future, you mark it on your match card and they put you in touch after the event. It’s a great, informal way to share your skills with charities that need your help.
At a recent Speedmatching event, Media Trust matched a local-to-London YMCA Centre with Derek Scobie, a strategic marketing expert from Central London based Google. Derek has been instrumental in the YMCA’s marketing, and they’ve been working together for around six months.
“We’re very happy about our match with Derek Scobie”, said Esther Nash, Deputy Manager at the YMCA says. “He initially came for a meeting where we discussed an overview of our organisation and Derek reflected on his experience and knowledge of the voluntary sector. Derek shows real interest in the organisation as he lives locally, and he can offer additional help and guidance as we produce materials and develop our marketing strategy across the organisation.”
The next speedmatching event in London takes place on 14th March, 6-8pm, followed by an event on 3 May, 6-8pm. For more information, or to book your place, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call Sam on 0207 871 5658.
